Jed and I have always talked about traveling a bit with the trailer, but I didn't think it would happen so soon. Between Christmas and New Years we drove to Glamis. It's a 15 hour drive. With two kids. And a Grandma. In one truck. Yikes - but we still had fun (after a really looooong day).
We left around 9 one morning, and actually didn't end up pulling into camp until 2am. The last 4 hours were just short of a nightmare because the girls were tired and had been in the truck all day long - but there wasn't really a place to stop anywhere after Vegas.
Glamis is located on the Arizona/California/Mexico border. To get there we drove on part of Route 66. I thought that was pretty cool, and it is a lot like the Cars movie. No Mater sightings though.
Anyway, we stayed at the dunes for a few days and had a really good time (although Kate keeps telling us she doesn't want to go to the really far away dunes again).
It was so neat to be in the sun and out in the dunes at the end of December. And the dunes there are a pretty fun ride. It's also like a mini city set up there every weekend. The have vendor row with atv parking, food, ice cream, parts, stickers, tshirts, everything. It reminded us of Moab over Easter - but with side by sides.
Polaris put on a big production down there with food, activities, give aways, and even fireworks. Luckily we parked by some nice people who had a few kids Kate's age, so she was in heaven having friends to play with.
