Chicago

Jed and I were lucky enough to go on a trip to Chicago last week. It was the Ameriprise National Conference and Jed worked so hard last year that we were invited to attend. The Conference was unbelievable, and unlike anything we had ever been to. We flew in on Wednesday (and yes, I was 37 weeks pregnant) and had a welcome reception that evening at the Field House Museum were we met Sue, the largest T-Rex skeleton.

The party had all sorts of mini buffets set up around the museum and the entertainment was great, with a live band, and dancers and singers. We even got to watch fireworks at the end over Lake Michigan.

Each day for the "conference" part, we had a guest speaker. The first day was Chris Gardner whose lifestory is "The Pursuit of Happyness". He was a wonderful speaker and his story is amazing. The second day we listened to Dr. Oz (he's on Oprah), and he's really interesting to listen to. The third day was Magic Johnson, but Jed and I slept in because of all the fun we'd had in the last few days.

The wildest party for sure was "Wigfest" where most everyone wore wigs to the party. Dancers with crazy outfits were walking down from a tower in the center of the room, and again, more food and desert buffets than you can imagine. We had a great time at the party.

One of the best activities we did was go on a Architectural boat tour and learn about the building along the Chicago river. We would have never planned a vacation to Chicago, but it really is a neat city, with a lot to see and do.
